On 29 June, the Department for Transport announced that the 6-month MOT exemption for cars, vans and motorcycles introduced during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak would end on 1 August.

Why is the MOT exemption ending?

Wrexham Service Centre stayed open for the majority of the COVID 19 lockdown, and some drivers continued to get their vehicles tested despite the exemption. As non-essential services start to re-open in line with government guidance and more vehicles are back on the roads, having an up-to-date MOT will help to keep vehicles safe to drive. As well as keeping you on the right side of the law.

What should I do to prepare?

To make sure you get an MOT:

Check your last MOT date 

If you have had your car MOT’d by Wrexham Service Centre in the past then we may send you a reminder if we have your details and permission to do so. We strongly suggest you check the date of your last MOT, and if you require one now or soon, please book online or call our office to arrange a convenient date and time.

Beat the rush

We expect bookings to increase as lockdown is eased. Please make sure you book as soon as possible, so you don’t get caught out.

Stay safe

Not only is an MOT a legal requirement, it also gives you peace of mind that your car is safe to drive. In addition, an MOT can be conducted while maintaining social distancing, and we’ve provided all our staff with the necessary training and equipment to do this.
